Walking trough the hangar and a Skyraider appears. There are worse things to run into. Didn’t realize how HUGE the fuselage mounted speed brakes are.

Delta’s war against United is getting serious

The most badass thing about this plane is that we used them all through Vietnam, even as everything was moving to jets and missiles.

Yes, a reliable radial engine, huge payload, and low speeds are good for something.

Basically what the A-10 is today.

United will mire itself in legal troubles while Delta really doesn’t have to do anything

Here’s something worse to run into: the sharp corner of a 747's landing gear. I don’t know how many times I’ve nearly punctured my forehead grabbing the chocks before pushback...

Spad! One of my all time favorites. What a beast.

It carries a heavier bomb load than a B-17 (depending on the length of the mission).

I’ll never get over the fact that an F-15E has nearly 3 times the payload of a B-17, and basically equal to the B-29.

Yeah, also that the B-17 is smaller than most people would think, and a B-29 is about as big as a 737.

That wasn’t even the heavy hitter in the hangar today. Some planes I’m not allowed to take pictures of.

It’s is much smaller than one would think. I paid to climb through one once and was surprised how hard it was for my fat self to squeeze through the bomb bay. Then I noticed a stencil on the outside that read “Maximum crew weight 1200 pounds.” With a crew of ten, that means that each crewman weighed about 120 pounds at most. Of course, most of them were 18 year old farm boys, but try finding 10 dudes who weigh that little today.
